Namibia

Namibia is a vast land of great contrasts. Larger than France and Great Britain combined, it straddles the Namib and Kalahari Deserts, with Angola above it and South Africa below. This is a country with unconfined space, compelling scenery, abundant sunshine and fascinating wildlife. Then there are some of the largest sand dunes in the world and the most fragile sites in Africa: the Skeleton Coast, Damaraland, Etosha, dinosaur footprints and ancient rock art. Nowhere else in Africa offers such a rich diversity of scenery, wildlife and history.

Northern Namibia Self-Drive

TOUR CODE NA8601

With excellent roads, good maps, flexibility, stunning scenery and some of the friendliest people in Africa, Namibia is perfect for a self-drive safari. For most of the year, the country is dry and the sky is aqua-blue. Here apricot sand dunes seem to rise out of gravel plains to topple into the Atlantic Ocean and vast open landscapes are littered with mountainous outcrops that enhance a sense of pure freedom. The lodges are very good value and most provide a host of local activities to enjoy. These two itineraries follow a similar route but differ in style and cost.

Self-drive safaris are based on two people sharing a group B car, unlimited mileage and Namibian CDW insurance. An upgrade to a 4x4 vehicle is possible as are quotations based on four people travelling together. The car is collected/returned at Windhoek Airport. All of the lodges and hotels en route will be able to provide delicious lunches and dinners, as not all meals are included. The lodges also offer activities that can be purchased locally. Please contact us for further details on the areas, routes and lodges.
