Great Camps through Kenya

This safari to Lewa Downs and Masai Mara combines one of Africa’s greatest conservation projects with one of the world’s most spectacular wilderness areas. The trip is stylish, personal and uses a combination of very different camps in spectacular settings. Activities range from day and night game drives to excellent guided walks that follow tracks through abundant game areas. Camel, horse and balloon safaris are also worth considering here. The guides are knowledgeable and experienced and if you choose the dry season, you could be in the Mara watching wildebeest thunder right past your tent.

Elephant PepperCamp

Situated on the northern edge of the Mara, this 16-bed bush camp is tucked away in a prime wildlife area. Tents are comfortable, en-suite and are either double or twin-bedded. The camp is surrounded by the Mara’s ubiquitous game and activities range from day and night game drives in 4x4 vehicles to walking safaris. The guides here are what you would expect from a camp of this quality, for they are extremely knowledgeable and experienced and their stories around the campfire at night are fascinating.

Lewa Safari Camp

With its lush green lawns, large pool and tented accommodation, Lewa provides visitors with an insight into conservation and wildlife management at its very best. Although under the ‘not for profit umbrella’, the Safari Camp spares no comforts on the home front. A visit to Lewa provides extraordinary game-viewing and many varied activities including day and night game drives as well as walking safaris and horse and camel-riding. The camp accommodates 26 guests.

Wellness Retreats

TOUR CODE PT6701

In today’s fast moving world, it is more important than ever to occasionally slow down, let our spirit breathe and our whole being awaken. The accommodation has all been chosen for its style and originality, comfort and location. With some of Africa’s best camps, guides and virtually everything included, days are as lazy or adventurous as you would like them to be. Some of the activities include walking safaris, day and night game drives, horse and camel-riding, mountain-biking, spa treatments, rafting and much more.

Safari Routing

01 Flight from Nairobi to Shompole, followed by three days of morning and afternoon activities.

04 Morning flight to Laikipia, followed by three days of morning and afternoon activities.

07 Morning flight to the Masai Mara, followed by three days of morning and afternoon activities.

10 Early morning game drive. Fly back to Nairobi and transfer for your onward arrangements.

Shompole Lodge

Shompole lies on the edge of the Great Rift Valley overlooking sun-baked plains and riverine forests, great creased volcanic mountains and lush green wetlands. It’s an imaginative creation in partnership with the Maasai people of this area. Constructed to emphasise the beauty of natural materials and graceful curves, it combines flowing water and plunge pools, canvas, stone, smooth white walls and a sense of natural open space wherever you look. The camp is truly the most unusual and exquisite place in Kenya.

Loisaba Lodge

Tucked away in the far reaches of Laikipia’s rugged northern frontier, Loisaba places an emphasis on the Mind, Body and Soul. The concept encompasses the rich experience of staying in the wild that stimulates every visitor, not only visually but also spiritually and emotionally. With a vast tract of wilderness on its doorstep, local tribes that live naturally and a stunning landscape, Loisaba truly offers guests the opportunity to relax and allow their senses to awaken. Come here for several days to enjoy the camel and horse-riding, mountain-biking, kayaking, walking, ‘star beds’, spa centre (offering several wraps), a swimming pool and tennis court. Then there is the food and companionship.

Richard’s Camp

Richard’s Camp is a traditional tented camp that operates like a family home in the bush. The camp oozes with character and charm, backed up by an experienced team who will go that extra mile to accommodate you. It is not luxurious but perfect for those seeking flexibility, pampering and relaxation. The six en-suite tents are spacious and there is even a Victorian bath tucked away in the forest. This is romantic!
