Secrets of the Kafue

The Kafue National Park will appeal to those who enjoy unspoilt wilderness and vast open spaces, for the Kafue is still relatively unknown and a stunning part of Zambia. The Kafue River and Busanga Plains are the highlights of this area and your stay here will be focussed on day and night game drives, walking safaris and boating trips. This is a perfect add-on to South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi safaris.

01 Morning flight from Lusaka Airport (or Livingstone Airport) to the Kafue. After lunch, the rest of the day will be spent on a game drive and perhaps on the river.

02 Morning transfer to Busanga Plains with game-viewing en route. The following two days will be filled with day and night game drives.

04 Morning activity, followed by brunch. Afternoon transfer to Lunga with game-viewing en route. The following two days will be filled with day and night game drives, walking safaris, fishing and boating.

06 Following a morning activity, fly to Lusaka Airport for your onward arrangements.

Optional Add-on

For an extra two nights in the Kafue, why not think about fly-camping. This is a lovely trip and is based on a walking safari with some gentle paddling by canoe on the Lunga River. It is led by an experienced guide and is fully supported by a camping team and chef.

Canoeing the Lower Zambezi

Gliding slowly down Africa’s most exciting river in an 18ft Canadian kayak makes for a unique safari and a whole new perspective on game-viewing. No experience is necessary, though this is not for the faint-hearted as close encounters with big-game are a daily occurrence. This is the full bush experience with meals generally cooked on open fires, nights spent in dome-tents or proper camps. Your neighbours will often be hippo, buffalo and elephant.
