Zambia

Zambia is an ever-changing country, taking on an entirely different character according to the seasons, with green lush vegetation in the summer (wet season) and a tawny landscape in winter (dry season), when game is easier to spot. Its wildlife viewing is rated among the best in Africa and camps are built to be small and intimate. Nothing has changed in Zambia for decades, for the parks are still untamed and unspoilt. Come here if you yearn to get out of the vehicle and walk, for Zambia’s guides are ranked among the best in Africa and guided walking safaris are their speciality.

Gems of Zambia

TOUR CODE ZA9101

Gems of Zambia mixes beautiful scenery and diverse wildlife. Guests will experience the famous Zambezi River and South Luangwa National Park, where camps are small, personal and romantically rustic. As the lodges are in remote areas, most animals have a habit of walking through camp, which adds to the daily excitement.

Safari Routing

01 Morning flight from Lusaka Airport (or Livingstone Airport) to South Luangwa National Park. The following four days will be filled with day and night game drives and walking safaris. On day three, enjoy a game drive transfer between camps.

05 Morning activity, followed by a flight to the Lower Zambezi National Park. The following two days will be filled with day and night game drives, walking and canoe safaris.

07 Following an early morning activity, fly to Lusaka Airport for your onward arrangements.

Daily Activities
Camps do not have fences and there are no fixed daily itineraries. A typical day may include getting up at the crack of dawn, tracking animals on foot, relaxing on game drives, sundowners and then searching for nocturnal species after dark.

Canoeing the Lower Zambezi

TOUR CODE ZA

Gliding slowly down Africa’s most exciting river in an 18ft Canadian kayak makes for a unique safari and a whole new perspective on game-viewing. No experience is necessary, though this is not for the faint-hearted as close encounters with big-game are a daily occurrence. This is the full bush experience with meals generally cooked on open fires, nights spent in dome-tents or proper camps. Your neighbours will often be hippo, buffalo and elephant. Canoeing safaris are based on the stretch of river between Lake Kariba and Kanyemba and range from two to nine nights. For further details on our participatory or luxurious options, please call us.

LAKE MALAWI EXTENSION

Known as ‘the warm Heart of Africa', Malawi's scenery is gorgeous and the lake is renowned for its great diving, boating and picturesque sandy coves. From Luangwa, Lake Malawi is a very short flight. You could even enjoy an early morning game drive in the Valley and then for lunch, dine on freshly caught fish on Likoma Island! We have several options to choose from in Malawi, including Chintechi Inn and the delightful Kaya Mawa. Please call us for further details on these or for any other trips here.
